Today 2013, we celebrate that CARD as a payment method has its 64 years
anniversary and still today terminals verify ONLY the card you using and
verifying you as the card-holder.

The missing link or actually the broken link of trust, during all these years is that we as users, we as card-holder haven't had a chance to know if the machine we will use the card in, actually are a trustworthy and proper machine / card-reader I can use.

The NEW and most revolutionary innovation ViA TAV (Terminal Authenticity Verification) is a very simple solution which finally allow the card, yes the card itself and you as the card-holder to be part of the verification process so you will not be fooled to use and enter your PIN code in a device, which is not a trustworthy device.

Today, when you will use a Chip based card, we hope that you as the reader do understand that a card without an intelligent built in chip, is part of the past. All the banks in the world will for sure move to CHIP based plastic card products, where the chip is not just a memory, it has a built-in functionality as well as it can handle security and also handle encryption, to truly protect your, the cardholders data and in many cases the money.

So when you insert your Chip Based card in any type of terminal, device which can read the card (chip on the card) the first question will be:


As soon as you have entered your PIN-Code, you are venerable and if the device, the terminal, such as an ATM machine or a typical card-payment terminal also known as POS terminal EFT POS terminals is in the worst case, actually a faked machine, which after you have entered the PIN-Code just kindly will tell you, "Sorry there is a technical Error we can not process your request", the 'bad' guys, the criminals would at this stage have got what they want and all the critical data from your Chip-Card, or got your PIN-Code from using your normal magnetic-strip, on the card, would now be in the hands to those elements.

You likely wouldn't even notice that there was a fake ATM or a manipulated card-reader of any kind. Likely you would just be frustrated and stressed to find another ATM or another card-reader which works.

The criminals, who just have got all the important information, INCLUDING YOUR PERSONAL OIN CODE, could either decide to take whatever amount it was allowed to with-draw from your card at this time, or they might be even smarter and just make a small transaction, but repeat the same over and over again and it might take weeks or month before you would discover that there is funds (money) missing from your account.

How ViA TAV works


When you get a new card, as we will show here in this example, you will get a ViA CASH CARD, a pre-paid cash card, which you can enroll to in any of the ViA Merchant shops, just by presenting a National ID card and a mobile phone number, no paper to sign no contract to be posted, no paper-administration to be handled.

  1. You have decided to get a ViA Cash Card
  2. Present your National ID Card
  3. The National ID Card is inserted into the ViA eBM Terminal
  4. You enter your Mobile phone number
  5. Enter the amount to be initially loaded to the card
  6. You receive a OTP message by SMS to your mobile phone
  7. The OTP (One Time PIN) is entered to the ViA eBM terminal by you
  8. You get, as an example 3 simple images displayed on the screen
  9. You are being asked to remember that image
  10. You can now select your own personal PIN Code
  11. You take out the card, get a receipt
  12. Re-enter the card and the Image first is displayed
  13. Thereafter you are being asked to enter your personal PIN-Code
  14. A new receipt is printed to verify that the enrollment was successful and your card is working.

If you have another card, credit card, cash card, debit card or a loyalty card issuied from an issuer such as a bank and that bank has Licensed to use the ViA TAV solution, this is likely how it would work when you get a new card from that bank:




But if you have access to Internet or your bank will arrange so you can send in your own image, maybe your security image would look like this:

It is ONLY you who knows what security image you have selected and the image is highly encrypted on your chip on your card and can not be copied or manipulated with. There is several layers of encryption as well as a veri smart and spearheaded key-management-solution used, which make any efforts to 'hack' the solution, nearly impossible and if someone in the future would 'hack' one terminal or chain of terminals (card-reader) the ViA TAV is designed in such way that a compromised key would be disabled from any other terminals or readers in the world.
